What medium do you use?

i use anything that seems to compliment the subject of my art, or interests me. i enjoy making things with my hands, so any media that allows me to physically manipulate, build, is fair game.

What is your artwork about?

my art is generally about the human condition and my understanding of it.

How do you title your work?

generally i have a working title that i find with my original brainstorming. i keep that as the title once the piece is complete unless my final product is completely unrelated to the original concept. i don't find the titles for my work to be particularly important. my art practice is more concerned with the physical object than language.

When are you most inspired?

inspiration is funny for me. i get really excited about ideas for sculptures but i usually run through so many ideas before settling on one that it is hard to say what inspires me most or when it happens. i try to always have a few projects in progress so that work stays interesting and that keeps me inspired. seeing art definitely gets me excited about working on my own art but so do lots of other things, watching a movie, going to the park, seeing friends, being offended by someone or something. my art is about people and social behavior so really i find inspiration when inspiration finds me.

When are you most productive?

i'm most productive generally during the daylight hours. my brain and body are at their most capable when the sun is out, i'm a little bit hungry, and i've got a cup of coffee to sip. caffeine helps me to do good work, it keeps me alert and focused. the same reason lots of people drink coffee. being hungry, gives my body a drive to satisfy a physical urge so then i take that drive and use it to do something else, make art. sunny days just make me feel good. when i feel good i'm more inclined to work hard and enjoy my work although sometimes i get stir crazy and have to play outside.

Where do you see yourself and your artwork in ten years?

i don't know, hopefully somewhere that i want to be. i worry about my future and about having a place, like everyone. art is particularly difficult in that regard. there just isn't much certainty. my plan is to try my best and hopefully that will help me find success. i have no idea what's coming. not much of a planner in that regard.
