Because of the Society’s immense popularity and fame, the public life of every brother is anything but ordinary. After much paranoia resulting from the tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997, the Society significantly limited its appearances outside its own walls. During this public hiatus, the hard stroll machine was developed as a replacement therapy mechanism for brothers addicted to walking in the limelight. The Society has since lifted its strict regulation against public appearances but continues to enforce curfews when threat levels are high.
